FILM: ‘Don’t Stress, It’s Pointless
Check out this animation about reducing exam stress from Sharp Shotz winners.
Can you help us in our quest to reduce exam stress? We are three year 8 girls from Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College who entered a competition to work with BBC Bristol, UWE and charity Ideal. We had to choose a topic and then create a presentation on it to show a panel of judges. The topic we chose was exam stress because we felt strongly about it and wanted to make a difference.
Once our group was chosen as one of the two winners, we started planning our film. Firstly, we started working on a storyboard at BBC Bristol and then visited UWE to work with their students learning how to use professional equipment. Their students then visited Broadoak to create our film. On this day, we directed the film using the skills that we had learnt.
Our film follows the story of a year 11 student who panics when her teacher reminds her class that they have a maths test the next day. She starts desperately revising to the point where she gets a panic attack. Our film includes an interview with a school nurse who encounters this real life issue often in her day to day job. She gives advice on how to cope with the stress of exams.
Tackling exam stress is important because many young people who are faced with it tend to turn towards harmful solutions to cope. We want this to stop.
Now we are focusing on the campaign and that’s where we need your help. Our message is to stop stressing so help us by using #dontstressitspointless and spread the awareness.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for spreading the message.
