Pick Of The Week: ‘I Am Rising’ Exhibition And Change Creators
This week, Rife Guide brings you not only the best thing going on in the city, but the best opportunity to get involved in too.
Kicking off the year in true style, we wouldn’t expect anything less from our friends over at Rising Arts Agency than a 6-man artist exhibition – ‘I Am Rising’.
The exhibition is a dynamic mixed media showcase of a select range of featured artists from Rising. Varying in artistic practices and style, they are Cai Burton, Christina Ashmole, Emma Morsi, Jasmine Thompson, Laura Waite and Sophie Malpas.
The work ranges from digital images to sculptural forms, framed work, reportage illustrations, and fly-posting. Running from Friday 20th January to Tuesday 31st of January at The Station in the centre of town, you can view the pieces of work from Monday-Friday 9.00–20.00 and Saturday 11.00-19.00.
Rising Arts Agency exists to support 16-25 year olds with creative ambitions in Bristol.
Rising Arts Agency exists to support 16-25 year-olds with creative ambitions in Bristol. All the artists featured in this exhibition are associate artists of Rising, and you can be one too. Not only are their opportunities for your work to be showcased, but the agency offers professional mentoring and networking, commissioning opportunities and creative leadership training.
Rife Guide not only features loads of great events that are happening in Bristol, but also jobs and opportunities in the creative industries too. This week, we are really excited to shout out about Knowle West Media Centre’s programme- The Change Creators XLR Collective. This seven month creative leadership programme is for 18-25 year olds who want to make a positive change in the world using the power of music.
The programme consists of a 3 days of workshops in Bristol, 3 days of music workshops and events in an all expenses paid trip to a European city with the rest of the course in evenings fitting around existing commitments. Not only being brilliantly fun and inspiring, the programme enables you to connect to leaders locally, nationally and internationally, build your self confidence, develop your musical skills and provide you with real experiences of leading.
But be quick- the deadline for the programme is this Thursday 26th January at 11am, so make sure you get applying now. If you are interested in finding a load more opportunities in Bristol for young people, make sure you head to Rife Guide’s Jobs and Opportunities page.
