Hello! Rife Magazine ceased publishing new work in July 2022.

We've kept the magazine online as an archive and hope you'll still continue to enjoy all of its contributions from the last 8 years.

Pick Of The Week: Papergirl Workshops

Find out what’s on Rife Guide this week, including two free skill sharing arts workshops from Papergirl Bristol.

It’s a brand new year and what better way to start it then to gain some brand new skills for a better new you.

Calling all boys, gals and non-binary pals, Papergirl Bristol are very proud to present not one, but two workshops this January. Learning skills to make art can be expensive and confusing, and people often end up unsure where to start. With this in mind (and cos they’re all about sharing/DIY), Papergirl Bristol are hosting small, affordable and informal skill-sharing workshops.

The first workshop on Digital Colouring is this Sunday 8th January at Hydra Bookhop, 1pm- 2.30pm. Led by Bristol-based freelance illustrator Ryan Gajda, You can check out some of his work at his website more of Ryan’s work at his website http://www.ryangajda.com/.

For this workshop you’ll ideally need to bring along a laptop or tablet with Adobe Photoshop installed. If you can, bring your own linework to colour (but there’ll be a source file provided if you can’t).

The second workshop on Making Collage is next Wednesday 11th January at Roll for the Soul, 7pm-8.30pm. Led by collage artist and jewelry maker Katja Huth, she is based is Bristol and has had work exhibited at the RWA. You can see more of her work at her website (http://www.katjahutharts.co.uk/) and buy her pieces from her Etsy store.

Materials will be provided for this workshop, but please feel free to bring along any pieces (photos, magazine clippings, etc) that you would like to work with.

Both sessions are suitable for beginners, and are pay-what-you-can, with anything they make going back to the venues and the workshop leaders holding the sessions. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
