Ensure your screenings run smoothly from start to finish with Film Hub Scotland’s handy technical toolkit.

We know it can be difficult to get to grips with the technical aspects of screenings. Projectionist Euan Bright (Glasgow Film Theatre, Glasgow Film Festival & Edinburgh International Film Festival) has compiled this fail-safe guide to setting up, and troubleshooting, your tech. It will be particularly useful for film societies and film festivals who use community venues and a range of screening spaces.

Euan delivered an online workshop to walk FHS members through the guide, and how to use it. Watch the recording.

This guide includes:

  • How to run films from DVD/Blu Ray/Video files/DCP
  • Setting up your screenings with workflows and playlists
  • Using tech to create a cinema ‘atmosphere’
  • How to test your picture/playback/sound
  • A step-by-step screening day checklist
  • Troubleshooting common technical issues
