About the Animation Producer Lab
To help broaden the pool of animation producers in the region, BFI NETWORK South West is excited to announce a new Animation Producer Lab in collaboration with ScreenSkills, supported by the Animation Skills Fund.
The Lab will take place on Fri 10 May at Aardman Animations in Bristol, and will be a full day of activity, followed by a series of online workshops.

The Lab will support entry-level animation producers or those interested in moving into the role, with a focus on key areas of responsibility (generally shared across 2D, 3D and stop-motion) including story development, financing, budgeting, scheduling, pitching and project management. We’ll be joined by a range of Animation Producers throughout the day who will share their knowledge and experience in animation production.
These sessions include:
Masterclass in Producing with Helen Argo (Executive Producer at Aardman)
This session will introduce producing across different formats and techniques, thinking about key production roles, responsibilities and career paths.
Script & Storytelling with Abigail Addison (Producer, Programmer & Director of Animate Projects)
How take a project from script to screen? A session focused on the role of the Creative Producer; supporting projects in early development, producing pitch decks and thinking about how animation can serve audiences beyond dialogue.
Finance plans with Chris Hees (BAFTA winning producer, Director of Bridgeway Films)
This session will will focus on financing your short animation, thinking about partnerships, grants and how to make European co-productions work.
Applications will close on Thur 4 April at 17:00. We expect to be able to let applicants know the outcome of their application in mid-April.
