BFI NETWORK South West: #shortitout Q&A with Desiree Akhavan

    Online

BFI NETWORK, Encounters Film Festival and Watershed have launched #shortitout, calling for people to get creative in 90 secs or less whilst staying at home.

There is a whole host of tips, inspiration and resources on the dedicated #shortitout page:  encounters.film/shortitout

Every Thursday in May, join in a series of #Shortitout: Filmmaker Front Room Q&As presented with partners including BAFTA and Channel 4.

#Shortitout with Desiree Akhavan
Thursday 30th April | 18:00 BST
Hosted by Alix Taylor, BFI NETWORK in partnership with BAFTA

The amazingly talented Iranian-American filmmaker Desiree Akhavan will be joining us for our first #Shortitout Filmmaker Front Room Q&A! Best known for her directorial debut feature Appropriate Behaviour (2014) and more recently The Miseducation of Cameron Post (2018), she also wrote, directed and starred in the Channel 4 series The Bisexual. We will be chatting with Desiree about her filmmaking journey from her lesbian comedy web series The Slope (2010) to Grand Jury Prize Winner at Sundance Film Festival for The Miseducation of Cameron Post and making films about a subject that is deeply personal to you.

Register here.

Ahead of the session check out Desiree’s comedy lesbian web series The Slope via Vimeo. You can find the first ever episode below from Series 1 for your viewing pleasure!

#shortitout is brought to you by Encounters Film Festival, BFI NETWORK and Watershed as part of Depict 2020.

Submit your shorts by 4 June using the #shortitout hashtag encounters.film/shortitout
