The selected participants will attend this inspiring and educational day at the filmmaker haven, The Forge, with sessions from established producers working across live action, animation, shorts and feature films, as part of Encounters Film Festival 2018.

There will also be the opportunity to meet the regional BFI NETWORK Talent Executives to discuss the new funding schemes for Short Film & Early Development launched in 2018.

Applicants should…

  • Be permanently based in the UK
  • Be actively producing or have previously produced short films, working at an early / emerging level
  • Have produced at least two short films which have gained some industry / public attention i.e had a screening at a film festival
  • Want to develop their producing skills in film, and interested in meeting new writer / directors with new projects
  • Be interested in networking with other producers from across the UK

We will consider applications from early / emerging producers who are interested in moving across to film production from other creative production areas such as theatre and arts events – feel free to contact us to discuss your application in more detail here.

We will also consider applications from regional producers who have more experience than outlined above (i.e. a larger number of short films / low budget features), providing they are actively seeking / interested in producing new projects with emerging regional writer / directors.

Cost

  • The day is FREE for all producers who are selected to attend.
  • Selected Participants will be offered discounted passes to the full Encounters Festival.
  • Bursaries for childcare, access costs and producers who cannot attend due to financial hardship are available. Please indicate your bursary requirements in the application form and participants will receive full bursary information upon selection.

Inclusivity

  • This is an inclusive event and we welcome applications from everyone.
  • We encourage applications from participants who identify with the BFI Diversity standards under-represented groups.
