Workshop: Engaging with working class audiences & programming w/ Dr Leanne Dawson

    Online

Interested in engaging with working class audiences in your programme and reflecting on the barriers that might prevent people entering and enjoying your space or event?

To accompany the recent resource launched by Inclusive Cinema – https://inclusivecinema.org/how-to-guides/working-class-inclusion/ , you are invited to join in this workshop with Dr Leanne Dawson: Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Consultant, author and academic in Screen Studies.

The workshop will primarily focus on working class engagement – terminology, approaches (external and internal to your organisation), as well as practical implementation.

There will be interactive elements and opportunities to share your views and experiences.

There will be two sessions available:

  • 10:30am -12:00pm Tuesday 14th March
  • 1:30pm – 3pm Tuesday 14th March

Dr Dawson’s EDI consultancy work includes delivering talks and workshops, auditing, research, designing e learning, creating strategy, and assisting with inclusive recruitment. Her publications consider the representation and inclusion of working class and LGBTQIA+ people, among others, onscreen and in screening venues.

Inclusion is not just Leanne’s work, but also her passion. Having been raised in poverty, she beat the odds to get to where she is in her career and now wants to change those odds and improve access to the arts for working class children and adults.

Note: You will be e-mailed a formal confirmation on Friday 10th March when this form will close and allocated a session.
We will try to accommodate everyone’s preference, but spaces are very limited.
