“This is the story of Joe, an 11 year old boy who dreams of an idyllic relationship with his mother. Set on a council estate, Joe spends his days longingly watching other families and daydreaming of what could be. In reality, Joe’s home is often full of drug pushers and addicts, a real party house. When Joe discovers a women’s health magazine in his mother’s room, he is inspired to plan a day of pampered luxury for her. However, her addiction causes it to brutally backfire which prompts Joe to reconsider his relationship with his mother. “Joe Was ‘Ere” is a short film about loneliness, trauma, the devastating effects of drug abuse and the quest for maternal love”
