Jonny Dry

Jonny is a film director and writer whose work deals with the intersection between landscape, people and culture. He is currently releasing directorial work for both Exeter Phoenix and BFI NETWORK; ‘Open Country’ which he wrote, directed and produced; and ‘Salvage’ written by Callum Mitchell and produced by Ella Turner and supported by Denzil Monk of Bosena. His previous projects include ‘Tom’s Dream’ through Hall for Cornwall’s ‘Behind the Postcard’ programme; experimental documentary ‘Small Groups Through Time’; and ‘An Tarow’, released on BBC iPlayer and widely recognised at the BAFTA Cymru qualifying Carmarthen Bay, as well as Cornwall, Little Wing and Two Short Nights, including a win for Best Director. His essay on Cornwall’s post-industrial landscapes has been published by The Writers’ Block. Alongside all this he is a workshop practitioner and educator leading courses in colleges, charities and community groups that allow children and adults to explore their own creative voice.

Ella Turner

Ella has worked as a producer and production manager since 2017 in both drama and documentary. Ella has just completed work as Associate Producer on a BBC + BFI feature film ‘Edge of Summer’ and has started pre-production on Dean Puckett’s first feature ‘Heretic’ as Associate Producer and Production Manager. Ella produced ‘An Tarow’, a multi award-winning short on BBC iPlayer, she was selected for 2020’s BBC Arts New Creatives scheme to make ‘Guns in my House’, a documentary audio piece, and was commissioned by The Hypatia Trust in 2021 for short documentary ‘Staying Here’. Ella recently finished working for Producer Denzil Monk at Bosena, an ecosophical production company with the environment at its core. Bosena’s latest release was BAFTA winner Mark Jenkin’s ‘Enys Men’ (Film4), of which Ella was Production Coordinator. She’s currently Producer of BFI NETWORK funded short ‘Salvage’. Last year Ella coordinated the filming of ‘Behind the Postcard’, a short commissioned by the government for the G7 summit.
