Introducing the South West creatives who have taken part in our screenwriting, producing, directing and animation labs and our talent-development schemes. Each participant was selected from a high volume of applications on the basis of their talent, their desire to make films and collaborate and their passion for inclusion.

A creative technologies collaboration between Watershed, UWE Bristol and University of Bristol – home to a diverse community of Residents exploring creative tech.
BFI Film Academy
BFI Film Academy offers opportunities for 16 – 25 year olds, anywhere in the UK, to get to know more about film and how to make a career in the screen industries.
Make Shift
Make Shift is Watershed’s place for early career creatives who are interested in creative technology and/or film practice.

New Voices 2023: Meet the Participants
BFI NETWORK South West, in partnership with Blak Wave Productions, Little By Little Films and Grey Moth, are pleased to present our participants for New Voices 2023.
New Voices x Bristol Old Vic Theatre School
Our collaboration with Bristol Old Vic Theatre School allowed the writer-directors a chance to workshop their scripts with acting MA students. We sat down with Jess Wheeler, BFI NETWORK Talent Exec, and Em Smith, Head of Screen MA, to chat about the partnership and what it brought to New Voices.
