The Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington, Devon is a major arts provider across northern Devon, serving a huge, mainly rural, area & drawing audiences from across the South West.
The multi-artform programme brings in a yearly footfall of 70,000+ across our central & outreach venues. Their core business model has increasingly focused on being self-funding, with occasional public funding supporting our youth/outreach/disability & socially inclusive programmes.
Achieving a notable increase in audience numbers over the past 5 years through an adventurous, high quality & challenging programme. In 2019 The Plough put on 20 free exhibitions, 373 film screenings, 270 live events (in 17 venues across Devon including year-round programming at in Barnstaple and South Molton) & extensive arts-based projects & workshops delivered at The Plough & other outreach venues.
The Plough’s film programme is known for showing films that are unavailable elsewhere and they regularly organise events alongside screenings.
