For an exciting 10th edition, Making Waves Film Festival 2022 arrives at No 6 Cinema, Portsmouth with a handpicked selection of short film screenings, networking events, filmmaking workshops – and even a couple of features for good measure. Below we share the highlights of the festival’s decennial celebrations, with plenty worth making noise about for filmmakers and fans alike.
Making Waves Film Festival runs in partnership with No 6 Cinema in the Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth, with support of the BFI Film Audience Network, awarding funds from the National Lottery in order to bring short films to audiences in the Solent Reigon of the South West.
Celebrating its 10th year, a big highlight of this year’s festival is GET NETWORKED on 20th April. Supported BFI NETWORK South West team, the event features a screening of local shorts from the festival competition, a Q&A with funded filmmaker Jess Dadds, and a chance for attendees who make films to develop their networks.
Filmmakers local to Portsmouth are invited to make the most of the opportunity to discover more about the process of making a funding application, as the single round of BFI NETWORK funding – for both Short Film Productions and Early Feature Developments – is open until 2 May 2022.
BFI NETWORK Talent Exec. Alix Taylor-Searle will be in attendance, talking through the 2022 call out for funding.
