Projects 2010 > Sculpting with Scent > Journal
We’re investigating the kinds of smells that aren’t normally used commercially to allow people to experience them as stories. It’s like we’re creating a poem with scents. It’s an ephemeral thing but what you’ll take away is a little picture memory that those odors have created in your mind.
Hazel is using cinematic stories as a kicking-off point to create the stories. She's not totally sure yet whether the user is 'being' a character or what gender they are asked to be but she thinks the cinema examples definitely give people a head start even if they don't know the film or book. She also wants to accompany the smell experience with a single line or sentence that will help locate the user in the narrative and give them some context for the smells.
