This is a snap shot of Bristol's musical community where each artist has a page giving biographical material, showing visuals and imagery, offering streaming audio DJ sets, album or new tracks and for some there is also video material. We aim to provide a mini portal into the musical underbelly of the city. A living archive represents the fruits of the past and shows them forming and flowering in the present. From ambient soundtracks to beats frenzy all shades of musical colour are represented here.

The Dug Out had an upstairs video lounge that played a variety of music videos and films. Many an hour could be spent watching the Clash, Grandmaster Flash, A Fistful of Dollars, Star Wars or any variety of pop promo. Film and the music soundtracks that accompany them have been incredibly influential as musicians sought out unlikely places to gain inspiration.

The powerful linkage between image, music and emotion has been beautifully exploited by John Barry (From Russia with Love), Ennio Morricone (Fistful of Dollars), John Williams (Star Wars), Serge Gainsbourg, Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the Apes), Henry Mancini (Pink Panther), Lalo Schifrin (Mission Impossible), Michel Legrand (Thomas Crown Affair), Burt Bacharach (Casino Royale) and Elmer Bernstein (Man with the Golden Arm) amongst others. From Portishead's use of Lalo Schifrin to Monk and Canatella's use of Jerry Goldsmith their influence can be seen right the way through Bristol's musical constructions. The site celebrates that love affair between music and film and showcases some video material from across the timezones.
